Daniel Andreas was another of of Bond guests at Collectormania. Daniel played the card dealer at Casino Royale.
Daniel was such a cool guy - you wouldn't believe that he isn't actually an actor! He came about the part in a way that we'd all dream of. Carlos Leal (thanks for the correction Tom) had originally been cast in role of the dealer. There was one small problem - Carlos wasn't a professional card dealer. EON gave him weeks of lessons, and he became very good, but it was still felt that perhaps they needed a real croupier for the role to make the dealing look smooth and impressive.
Eon began a serach of some of the top-end casino's in Europe. One call was made to the casino where Daniel works. Daniel was the floor manager and he took the call. They asked him if he had any good looking, charasmatic dealers who could deal well......he didn't hesitate....and said....."why not me?" (a very good move as it turns out!). He sent a photo through, and they asked him to come on set. At this point, Daniel though that this was to train someone, or to be an extra. It wasn't until a couple of days after the meeting that he got a phone call, and they asked him if he'd play the dealer.....to which there was an obvious reply of "Yes!".
He spent 4 weeks on set and says that they were the best four weeks of his life!
